It’s A Tough Job

The person I contacted to do some carpentry job won’t be available until Tuesday. Since I need a table (just a small one) where I can place the internet and telephone set, I did it myself out from excess materials that I think still useful. If I’m going to buy a ready-made wooden table, it would cost me around 30-40 dollars the least. I thought it’s going to be easy but I labored hard to finish it. For me, it’s a tough job or maybe not just my line of work. I felt sad knowing the fact that most of these workers only earned minimal pay. If I compare the amount charged by the professionals to their clients say for example a consultation fee of a doctor, their one day earning is only equivalent or almost equivalent to one patient although that is understandable. How are these skilled individuals paid in your country?

Mostly we pay for the labor and we take care of some material, the payment is use.

Me too, I'll shoulder the cost of the materials, give them free meal and snacks.

Here they are unionized so they make pretty good pay. Even those who work for themselves charge quite a bit for their services and skill. They are paid well.

Wow! That is good to know. Yes, I think that they should earn fair enough. That's why, I would try to ask them how much they charge for that particular task whichever they think fair. I wouldn't pay them just based on my calculation.

Since it's just a table for light things, I just try it. I'm not happy of the result though but it can be use. I would never do the same with other construction. That would be included on things that I want for the carpenter to do but I can't wait.
