Never a Dull Minute

Things have been going awry here.
Last week our septic system backed up, and we were told we needed new leaching fields. We had someone come out with a camera which he snaked under our driveway. He found a block in the pipe and cleared it instantly. Although the cleaning of the septic tank and camera cost us $685, we saved a good $30,000 and the cost of the driveway.
Yesterday, we had our tree man stop by. We have a huge tree that needs to come down before we leave for Florida. It’s dying and hanging over our cable and power lines.
And today we have a service call for our warming drawer. I need it repaired or replaced before Thanksgiving. The company is giving us a break on the repair, thank goodness.
Now I want this man out of our house until he returns with the parts!

@WorDazza So true. I’m just thankful we don’t need new leaching fields put in. Either our newish driveway would be destroyed or we’d have to have about 50 trees cut down, removed, and then landscaped. We lucked out with that. I’m so sick of having a house and can’t wait to get rid of it.

@LadyDuck
. So is Doodles. I stayed in another room with him and let my husband deal with him most of the time. Unfortunately, I will have to deal with him again on Monday when he returns with the parts to repair it. He was a little neat. He had that mat in my photo and covered his shoes with booties, but he left disgusting fingerprints all over the drawer and my island. I wasted time cleaning it.

It had been a costly affair with your septic tank.
I think problems always come in three's.

Exactly! Compared to new leaching fields, the cost of the warming drawer is a mere drop in the bucket. We are lucky the company is giving us a deal on the repairs. A new one wouldn't match and would cost a fortune. I rarely use that drawer, but it comes in so handy when I do need it.

Oh boy! I had my tank cleaned about a year and a half ago I guess. It wasn't cheap..but it wasn't terrible either..but I had no back up. You are lucky you got off cheap. I need to call someone for my dishwasher which never seems to work right.

We have it cleaned every year, just to prevent something like this happening. No such luck this time. We are lucky. We don’t want to pour all that money into the house, since we aren’t planning to stay here much longer.
Good luck with your dishwasher. I remember you mentioned it’s not working well.

You have saved yourself a bundle! Some things just need to be done. Think of when you'll be in Florida and leave all these troubles behind.

Eek . . . when it's good, it's good . . . but at some point things start to break down. I have a friend going through that right now . . . everything from their solar panels, to their stove, washer, and from last week her husband's car . . . she cringes about what could be next. Oh and our neighbors are replacing their kitchen floors right now - the dishwasher overflooded over the summer - I guess it didn't dry out too well. It's always "something"
! Best of luck over there with all the fixing stuff!3 people like this

I have a solution--be poor!!! KIDDING!!
I never wanted to own a home because there is always something going wrong. I have found renting a lot better--of course. I have been lucky--a lot of good landlords along the way!
