Twice Fairlife has spoiled

Fairlife is a brand of milk that I have been buying recently. I like that their milk has DHA and Omega 3 and there is usually a good sale on the milk. Even when there isn't I find that the milk is usually a dollar cheaper than Horizon's.
This is the second time that the milk has spoiled. I had a stomach ache last week due to the mil being spoiled. I didn't think to smell it because the sell by was in November. Well, I picked up the same brand on Sunday as it was on sale for 2/$7. I only bought one with a sell by date of December.
It's already starting to spoil.
I shot them off an email and I hope that they will do something about this. This is twice in a row that this has happened. Same type of milk each time as well.
Some companies are pretty good about making the customer happy. I've gotten coupons for free things when I've found I needed to complain about something.
Have you ever had to complain, and if so, did you get a good recompense?

When I have complained I mostly have gotten good results. It sounds like somewhere along the supply chain the milk is not being kept cold enough.

That might be it. I did complain and I am hoping I'll get some good results. i just do not know whether I want to buy that brand again. I get it for the DHA and Omega 3 and because it's almost always on sale.
A relative said that he'd heard some sort of law suit about milk manufacturers re-stamping the date mark for further out. I don't know how long ago that was, but it made me wonder.

It has been awhile for me as well.
The last thing I had to complain about was an opened box of Red Baron pizza. The plastic was not sealed, they sent me a coupon for a free one.

@JustBhem Yes, I like that. Even if it is just $2.00 it's $2.00 I can save.

@ScribbledAdNauseum could be the trucks they arrive on or whoever is transporting them or stocking the shelves etc

@shaggin Yes, it could be any of that. I used to work for a grocery store and while I didn't always stock for the dairy, there were times when we were required to do so. Milks were stocked from behind in our store so they always stayed cold but things like yogurt and cheeses were not, they were brought out on the sales floor.
The next time I am at the store I am going to see if I can tell whether they stock their milks from behind, i do not think so though.

Yes. However, other things from those same cold cases I've bought werent' spoiled. I don't think it was a matter of the case itself.

I have complained and have gotten coupons. Fairlife is too expensive, I will not buy especially after what you posted.

We don't always get Fairlife brand but I lilke milk with DHA and Omega 3 and FL has had sales on it the past few weeks. Definitely going to go back to regular 2% milk after this.

The first milk I got was left unsealed but once I opened it it spoiled within a few days. The expiry was for November.
This second milk was bought on Sunday and by Tuesday it was already spoiled.

@LadyDuck Yes, but within three days it should be fine. I bought the milk on Sunday and opened it that night to have some. On Tueday (three days later) I went to get some more and it was already spoiling.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It is normal that it spoils once it has been opened, not in a couple of days, but after 4 to 6 days. If it was not yet opened there is something wrong.

Sometimes when I buy milk I am surprised at how long it says it can stay fresh. The most surprising thing was back in Riga, Latvia there was a time when we could purchase milk straight from a farm. Twice a week a lady would deliver the milk and we provided large glass jars for her to pour the milk in. What could be fresher than milk practically straight from the cow? Then suddenly we started noticing that about four days after purchase the milk would start tasting bitter and we complained but the lady had no idea. So eventually we turned to supermarket milk

I am guessing the lady used no type of preservative at all. I think you can freeze milk, can't you? Though that's not something many people think of doing. I tried to freeze a DHA and Omega 3 milk from Horizon once and it just came out as shards of milk that was unuseable.

@RasmaSandra I've not tried to freeze milk since then. Does it make the taste a lot different?

never complain to a company before. But once I had put in a survey about how prices are at one store, and now they have low prices.

That's great I bet a lot of people were complaining about the prices.
I opened a Red Baron Pizza once to find that the plastic was not sealed and the pizza was frost bitten. I emailed them and they sent me a coupon for a free replacement.
Fairlife has already emailed me back so we shall see what they say.

Spoiled milk is not good. I wonder why it is spoiling. I hope you get a response to your e-mail.

I actually got a response today, I just emailed them last night. I am not sure what they will do or if they will offer me a coupon for another one. I was asked to keep the container so that is good.

Yes I have gotten free things from sending emails to companies if something was wrong.

@amitkokiladitya I agree. A family member said something that I didn't know about. Apparently there has been some companies that were caught changing the sell by date on their containers of milk. Maybe this company is doing the same.

Nope. I just throw them away. I never lodge a complaint.

It's better to lodge a complaint so that they know and can fix it. Even if they do not offer recompense.
