Political Correctness Has Gone Too Far!!!

I will be the first to say that a certain degree of political correctness is what got us where we are now. Political correctness is the reason why I'm an independent entity, not just an extension of my husband. A certain amount of political correctness is why my male colleagues and other random men don't get to call me Sweetie,Dear, etc. We need a certain amount of political correctness to make sure that we are all treated like humans, and not like stereotypes, However, i just saw something on TV that shows that there are times when political correctness is taken way too far. I just learned from CTV news that Always, a popular brand of feminine hygiene products, is removing the Venus (female) symbol from their products because it has been said this is disrespectful to transgendered, and non-binary people who happen to menstruate. Whaaaaaaat? Give me a break. While it is true that some Transgendered people menstruate, and that not all women menstruate for various reasons, menstruation is still a characteristic of the female reproductive system. No amount of legislation is going to change that. I'm a woman, and even if I got a sex change tomorrow, that doesn't mean I can go down to a sperm bank, and make a donation. As a feminist i believe in equality, but in that equality, we should not erace gender completely. What do you think?

Why is it men cannot say "Dear" to a woman but there is no repercussion if a woman calls a man "Dear"?

There is definitely a lack of balance in the way one gender gets away with certain things that the other would be pilloried for.

I agree with you this political correctness movement is going way too far. Dropping the symbol of Venus offends transgendered people. It makes me so mad that we are becoming in the words of the You Tube channel "A Call For An Uprising" in his words "A nation of wimps."

I think if people are getting offended by that, they must have pretty good lives with nothing of any importance to worry about. Sheesh!
