This is something that we've been meaning to do for some time. We cancelled our landline and cable this morning.
Things are quite tight at the moment, and my husband and I were talking about ways to save some money. And this was one thing that we figured we could get rid of.
We don't use our landline anyway. And we have a roku box that we can use to watch shows. So we figured between that, Netflix and YouTube, we can make it work and it won't be a huge problem.
Now we're trying to find other things to try and make things better. I'm looking for work, which is a big thing. It's something that I'm working on.
In the meantime, cancelling cable and landline is a good start. And we can always figure out other ways to save a few dollars. Every little bit helps.

I thought you had started a new job?
We have home phone, internet and cable bundled. So i doubt we will cancel any of them. Our cell phones dont always work great at home. so we keep the landline.

I did have a job a little over a year ago for a few months. Then I did some work from home for a few months, which was contract. I've had a few things over the year. But now not really working.
For you it can be beneficial to have a landline. I can understand why you keep it. For us, it's just really expensive. We don't use our landline. So we'll just keep our cellphones, and internet.

If I were able to get unlimited internet I could get netflix, Roku, etc, and get rid of our satellite dish. It is up to almost $80 a month now. I have internet which is $60 a month, but is not unlimited. Drives me crazy.
We both have cell phones. Mine is a Straight Talk phone, his is through Verizon. His is more expensive than mine. I pay $45 a month for service, he pays nearly $90 a month.

@dodo19 I think he is still paying on his phone, so until it is paid off, he is stuck with it.

@ElusiveButterfly That's too bad. Hopefully when it's paid off he can switch save a few buck.

We do have unlimited internet. We do pay about 80 a month, but at least we're able to watch pretty much all the show we watch. We don't have to worry too much about going over our limit.
He definitely does pay more. That's quite a difference. Has he ever though of changing carriers?

Nice! Another cable cutter. It is a good way to save money. Good luck in finding another job, cutting expenses more, and finding savings wherever you can!

Yes, another cable cutter. We figure we might as well. We don't need it and we can save money. Hopefully, I can get work soon. It'll definitely help. We'll definitely try to see where else we can cut some expenses and I'll keep trying to find work.

@dodo19 Is work hard to find right now in your community? Are businesses hiring for the upcoming Christmas season? Here in the US, retail stores hire lots of extra workers to help with the busy shopping period leading up to Christmas.

Good idea- it's something we have thought about and have no landline either. We do have cable and cell phones which we have done without before in a crunch. Good luck getting work- that will help big time.

We definitely thought it was a good idea too. So far, it's pretty good. It hasn't been too much of a problem. I do hope that I can get something soon too. Like you said, it will help and make a difference for sure. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I do all my tv watching on the internet. I have three stations that I visit, CTV, CBC and Global and I have Netflix. I only have Netflix because I have bundled a friend. There are also a lot of free movies on YouTube. More than enough!

I've been thinking of cancelling both myself. My landline rings with all sorts of bogus calls which is nothing but annoying. Cable is just ridiculous with their monthly charges.

Many people have done away with cable and landlines to save money. It’s very expensive and keeps going up in cost.
We still have cable and landlines here and in Florida including Roku, YouTube, and Netflix. My husband is old school and even insists on getting the newspaper delivered every day. He is very stubborn.
Good luck to you. I hope you find a job that will help pay the bills.

I do not watch TV so it would not bother me. My husband and son well that is why we have cable in the first place. I know, how hard it is looking for work. I hope you find a job the fits you.

It is excellent that you have cancelled your cable and your landline. That should save you a lot of money. Try to use less power in your home to get lower bills. Before you go food shopping write a shopping list. Maybe one supermarket has some discounts that you can take advantage for you. Good luck.

We still have cable and landline at home, but my siblings and I don't use them anymore. For me, it's a waste of money. But I can't convince my parents yet. lol

We have removed the landline long before. But I don't think to get rid of cable in nare future. Maybe after some years. If you dont using it then it is good to get it removed.
