Day 82 Promise 111 1 Samuel 2:30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel says, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me forever: but now the LORD says, Be it far from me; for them who honor me I will honor, and they who despise me shall be lightly esteemed. You know the saying, giving honor where honor is due. We have many ceremonies of people giving honor or credit for services rendered. Eli was a priest in Israel with two sons who dishonored God in the sacrifice. A prophet came to Eli to tell him God would destroy his sons in one day because they did not honor Him, but despised God’s sacrifice the people gave to God. As Christians, you despise God when you don’t do what He requires of you. Deuteronomy 10:12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, 13 To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good? (KJV) Micah 6:8 He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. (KJV) Keep yourselves pure before God by walking in His ways and doing what He requires of you without murmuring or complaining, and He will not despise you as He did Eli’s sons.
