Day 83 Promise 112 1 Samuel 3:11 And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one who hears it shall tingle. 12 In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end. 13 For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not. 14 And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering forever. Has someone told you something and you didn’t believe them and ignored the threat in what they said? Often parents give children a set of consequences for disobedience. If they disobey, they face the consequence of their disobedience. God gave Moses the law and told him all the consequences for disobedience. Included in the law was the proper manner of the sacrifice to God. Eli’s sons disobeyed the law of the sacrifice which caused Israel to sin. God sent a prophet to Eli, which Eli ignored and his sons continued in their sin. God then told Samuel He would fulfill His promise to Eli which He told Eli through the prophet. He also said it would happen quickly. As Christians, you too have the Word of God to show you what God requires of you. If you disobey then you too face God’s judgment. Jesus told His disciples what they were to do when someone sinned against them. Matthew 18:15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglects to hear the church, let him be unto thee as a heathen man and a publican. It’s best to listen when people tell you something, instead of ignoring it and facing the consequences. Let’s pray: Father, let me hear what You tell me and receive it with joy so I don’t face the consequences of disobedience. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Amen! This is how I explain things to others... The Bible isn't just a book of rules and God isn't just a judge. The Bible is full of love, encouragement and hope. God is an amazing Father who loves us so much! When we surrender to Jesus we no longer WANT to do the things of the old man/nature. We don't want, do or say things we used to. We are different, a new creation, set apart, etc... When we fall in love with a person we don't want to cheat on them, why? Because we love them, we don't want to hurt them or disappoint them. Our relationship with God works the same way and it's amazing!!
