Reversing diaspora.

One thing I like about Filipino migrants, they have cherished memories of their native land. They remember the Hanging Amihan (North Wind) and the traditional preparation for Christmas. They remember the Suyuan sa Tubigan (courting in the wet rice fields) and the trysts that followed. So, when they feel lonely in cold, foreign lands, they reminisce the summer sun and the long beaches, the food and the barkada (gang), the family and the love. The diaspora was forced by a heinous Martial Law back in the 70's. The ordinary Juan and Juana de la Cruz have to earn their daily keep, even with manual and domestic jobs in alien lands. Half a century later, their grandchildren are back, checking out the land of their roots. Oh boy, they were surprised for the paradise they never expected. Here's a comparative view of two young Americans who are as surprised for the freedom they were restricted to in the land of the free, and the affinity to the people and the country. which they thought was third world. You guys have fun! Everyone is always welcome.

Thank you. The Philippines is a tiny country with a hundred million brown-complexioned humble and hospitable natives. The people are talented and industrious, resilient and enduring. That is why we are called the Pearl of the Orient Seas. We have been voyagers, then and now.

Yes, we remember everything about the Philippines and we pass those events, culture and traditions to our children so they will know where their parents came from. Thanks for sharing the link. I will check this out.

Happy to know you are keeping the tradition and passing them to the children. Our family and cultural values are absolutely important that even the foreigners are beginning to understand what they had been missing all along. I truly believe the Filipinos were sent out into the four corners of the globe to spread family love and the faith. God bless you and your family.

The Bustos guy grew up in America but he was bullish about the Philippines through and through. He made so many videos to show his love for this country.

That is what two fellows said when they came for an exchange visit last year. They were amazed at the food they ate at Illustrado, an elite restaurant in Manila, and they spent just a little of their allowance. Interesting the Philippines is. a third world with so much good food.
