A Buick and a beauty

At the Blackwood Marathon, we placed ourselves in the middle of a paddock. Vince had met the owners a few days before and had organised for us to go on to the property to take photos. When we got there, a friend had arrived, having driven his 1928 Buick several hundred miles to visit them. He isn’t going to restore the Buick as he wants to leave it in its original state. Even so, it looks terrific and I love the emblem on the front. Apparently, a tri-shield symbol is universally recognised as representing Buick but I really like the lady’s head.

I think leaving that old Buick the way it is has a certain charm to it. Man, amazing it is still running. But someone must really love it.

We were on top of quite a steep hill waiting for them to arrive but it sailed up no trouble.

@porwest It was parked on the lawn when we drove past and I thought it was just a wreck. I found it hard to believe it was still in running order.

@JudyEv Impressive considering the shape it appears to be in.

That was a beautiful car and it is a good idea to restore the Buick, at least to prevent the rust to corrode the car.

@JudyEv I hope the car is safe, the rust is terrible.

I don't think he is going to restore it but I'm sure he keeps it under cover.

@JudyEv The buick is a beauty. Do you know who that is on the emblem?

No. I couldn't find out anything about the emblem. The official one for Buick seems to be three shields.

@JudyEv That is ok. That is interesting that they used a woman instead of shields.

Thanks for the photo and the FYI, now I know what a Buick is. It actually looks like a work of art, car-wise. The owner's decision to preserve the original is sound. Let the old technology to rest and get going with the modern ones,

Wouldn't it be great? I can imagine how many heads he turned on his road trip to his friend's place.

The Buick was the rich man's car when I was a kid.
