Knocked Down

At first I thought it was just an ordinary cough. So I took cough medicine and cetirizine and drink plenty of water. But on Sunday I felt pain all over my body and it’s difficult for me to move so I took another OTC medicine for pain. I suspected it was flu. I noticed though that the medicines did little effect on me and at night I experience headache and palpitating pain in my nape so I change clothes and packed up some to go to the hospital although I was not able to proceed. Instead, I just schedule an early appointment of my doctor for check-up. I still feel weak but it’s now manageable and I think the medicines prescribed are also working right. Another earthquake happened in the areas of Mindanao again.

What did the doctor tell you? Is it flu? I never take medications without asking to my doctor first.

@ZedSmart We do not have "over the counter" medicines in our country, even for simple cough medicine you need to ask to your pharmacist.

@LadyDuck I think that's it. OTC meds can be bought at the pharmacy even without prescription from the doctor because it's allowed by the pharmacist. You can always ask the pharmacist if you're not sure as to what meds you are buying say if for cough and for what kind like antitusive, mucolytic, expectorant etc. and they will suggest the right medicine for you. If you are sure that you need a mucolytic and you have a preferred brand, they will allow you to buy even if you do not have doctor's prescription but they will always remind you to see a doctor if symptoms persist.

Yes, Ms. Anna. It's Sunday and doctors are not available in their clinics but of course I can go direct to the emergency in hospitals for possible admission. I only drink the available over the counter medicines for pain and cough that no need prescription but I think I really need an antibacterial medicines and I can't buy to the pharmacy without prescriptions that's why I sought for early doctor's appointment. I'm now feeling better and hopefully well the soonest.

Thankfully It's not. It's flu. We really can't predict how our body handles any health problems even if we are careful about it. Oftentimes, we just refer symptoms as simple they are but rather complicating. There can be times that we're able to heal with the help of OTC medicines, and on the other hand wouldn't and need the help of the expert. Well, this is life.

I think the medicines are now working well. I'm feeling better and hopefully to full recovery the soonest. The idea of keeping myself at bed makes me feel more sick.

@rsa101 Thanks. We're OK here. Only minor tremors are felt but I feel sad to those who are badly affected.

I hope it's not that serious. The doctor prescribed me with medicines and I was advised to watch out with other symptoms and come back just in case there is unusual.

It's really like a punishment. Just now, I feel better compared to the past few days. Although, the medicines are doing their assignments, it makes me hungry from time to time so I need to eat.

Yes as the doctor said. I experienced several times like this but it respond to OTC medicines right away. Now, it made a trip to the doctor to get the right medicines because it's worst compared to the previous.
