My daughter called me up saying she's an article coming out in a few hours on CNN Philippines. I asked what about? The animation produced in Spain entitled Elcano & Magellan, depicting our gallant hero Lapu-lapu antagonist and our people savage!
Excuse me, Spain, you plundered my country, so who is the savage one? Three hundred and thirty-three years, and when you couldn't repress my people any longer, you sold us to America for $20 million.
Really, Spain, I thought your Queen was sincere in helping us now. How could you do this to us?

Thank you. Just that changing history infuriates me. It's like adding insult to injury. My people have endured enough. Many of us are already broken. This falsity portraying our ancestor hero a villain is below the belt.

@Nevena83 News from your part of the world comes to us almost nil.
Your Serbia is just one of the cold countries for us, where snow is punishing come winter.
How is it that America issues fake news about your country and your people?

@eileenleyva I know, because America does that with our history. He tries to portray Serbs as villains, which is not true.

Well I would understand that since it is shown in Spain. I think they would feel offended if the story will depict LapuLapu as a hero there and Magellan as the antagonist. Anyway I think that is for their own version of history they want to show for their countrymen. But not for us Filipino who knows best what happened to our country for 3 centuries.

Absolutely infuriating to change history and make it appear these colonizers were the protagonists.
This is the novelty story.

Oh, I'm sorry I think I will boycott this movie since the history is twisted and not the real one.
I thought some of the Spaniards have learned their lesson, but looks like they wanna feel good about this movie.

Interesting to see how the animation would show how Magellan was killed and how Elcano became the hero, by romancing a native Samar? This could be good for a laugh. But yes, I wouldn't spend a centavo for twisted plots.

Spain really does it, huh.
In such instance, my great aunt would have shouted Que Baribaridad!

Noooh, I love Spain. Gosh, my great grandfather was the first Spanish Finance Minister to the Philippines. Relatives has it he is the gentlest and most understanding to Filipinos, the kindest, and he married my great grandmother. That means Spanish blood runs in my veins, too.
History has it that with the colonization, Spain did send the criminals and the outcasts to our islands, and these sick-in-the-head pretenders acted as priests.
History happened. I can accept that. My people can accept that. But to distort it, that's another story.
