MyLotters know that I am something of a gourmet chef when it comes to the use of canned, frozen, and packaged foods.
The other day, I didn't know what to have for lunch, so I invented the gourmet salad shown here. I started with a half-eaten pre-packaged Caesar salad from Trader Joes, added some lox, and the put some blue cheese dressing on the side.
It was actually really good! Care to join me next time I make it? Do you have a favorite salad? I could add hearts of palm if you like.

@TheHorse I love the extras in mine. Ever added artichokes? Cobb salad research below....
The most common legend says that the Cobb salad was a spur of the moment invention of necessity. Supposedly, a very hungry Robert "Bob" Cobb, owner of the popular Brown Derby restaurant on trendy Wilshire Boulevard, was in the restaurant kitchen late one night. He pulled out what was available, so a little bit of this and a little bit of that into his salad, which included leftover hard-boiled eggs and roast chicken. Not dreaming he would ever add this kitchen sink salad on the menu, he shared it with his friend Sid Grauman of the legendary Grauman's Chinese Theatre. It was so delicious that the next day, Grauman came back asking for a "Cobb Salad." It's funny to think of celebrities fawning over leftovers, but when the Cobb salad hit the Brown Derby menu in 1937, a star was truly born.

Greek salad is one of my favorite (tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, red onion, feta cheese, black olives, typically seasoned with Greek extra virgin olive oil, salt and oregano. I also like the French salad made with boiled eggs, tuna, lettuce, onions, cucumber and olives.

Minus the blue cheese and lox for me! And maybe not a Caesar salad. lol I love salads with turkey, eggs, cheese, bacon, lettuce, red cabbage, etc. and a ranch or vinaigrette...or maybe Thousand Island.
