The King stopped a mugging

On June 24th, 1977 Elvis and his entourage were at a stoplight in Madison, Wisconsin. The singer known as The King of Rock and Roll witnessed two young men beating up on a teenage boy and he leapt into action. Taking a fighting stance, Elvis was reported to have said "I'll take you two on." The young men were starstruck as soon as they realized who was addressing them. The assault stopped, "Is Everything Settled Now?" Elvis asked. Even at that late hour, a crowd began to form and Elvis walked back to his limo and proceeded on to his hotel. 53 days later he would be dead. There is a plaque memoralizing this incident. Never heard about this before but that was nice of him to get involved, Good thing it didn't happen today other wise he would have just pulled out his cell and took video of it.

Yeah, you are more than likely right about that. It seems like that is the first reaction for most people now. "Oh I need to video this!"

@Bensen32 Really! The only reason a person should have their phone is to call the cops while they're yelling and trying to draw as much attention to the thing as possible. The more attention an attacker has, the more likely he'll be to scram. Sorry, I don't think I'd intervene otherwise. I could just see myself being beaten as well. I'll scream and call the cops though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Ya, if ever you see me getting beat up could you please put your phone down and help me out or at least call the cops so maybe they can come help me.

He probably would have collapsed with the effort, but it was nice of Elvis to do for sure.

Yes, it's a good thing that he didn't have to intervene. Things could have been worse, I can imagine the guys that were pummeling the teen were pretty worked up.

Elvis was a hero that day and did not know it.

Oh, he might not have thought of himself as a hero, but he definitely was remembered as one.

It is a good thing that he stopped and confronted the two guys. He was sure his presence would have been enough to stop him.

I do not think he was even thinking of his celebrity status. I do think it's a good thing he didn't have to fight them. I am sure that's a story the perpetrators still talk about today.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I am not sure he could have been able to fight, but he did a good action.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I have the feeling that the doctors in your country prescribe too many medicines.
