My birth story

I was born on 10 July 1969, just days before the moon landing. My Mum couldn't watch it on TV because she was still in hospital recovering after having me! I was born awkward - literally! I was a breach! I was supposed to have been born at the Vic in Lichfield, (it's no longer there now) but they didn't have the facilities to deal with a breach so my Mum was taken to Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield. But they couldn't turn me round so I came out bum first! I had clicky hips because of this and had to wear plastic pants for about the first six months. Also, when I was born, I had a mass of black hair on my head, but I had to have it shaved off because I had to go in an incubator. (Ofcause I didn't know all this at the time, my Mum told me about it later!

In relation to the moon, why did your parents not named you Luna? Or maybe the female version of Neil (Armstrong) which can be Nella.

No idea! Actually, if I had been a boy, my Mum was going to call me Kevin! Thank goodness I was born a girl! (No offence to any Kevins out there!)

@sharonelton Waheehee, Kevin is a popular name here and it was used in a comedy tv sitcom.

I shouldn't think it was. Thank goodness I can't remember any of it! My Dad was at work at the time and didn't know anything about it! I've got a photo of me sitting up on a sofa wearing those plastic pants!
