Etta James was born on January 25, 1938. She was an American singer who performed blues, R&B, soul, rock and roll, jazz and gospel. She won 6 Grammys and 17 Blues Music Awards. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, the Blues Hall of Fame in 2001 and the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. Rolling Stone magazine ranked her #22 on a list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time. She had a tough life; but she made a musical comeback in the 1980s.
