I Never Get Asked

Of course, if you follow me at all, you all are well aware that I do a LOT of travel for business, and I spend a considerable amount of time in hotels throughout the year. I am currently a diamond member of Wyndham which includes Super 8, Baymont Inn, Hawthorne Suites, Days Inn and a number of other hotel chains including Ceasar's Resorts. Diamond membership is the highest level you can achieve here. Not that it is anything special. I mostly stay at the Super 8's or the La Quinta brands. Occasionally I might stay at a Baymont or one of their Hawthorne Suites. These are by no means high class hotels. But one of the perks of diamond membership is that even if you book a regular room, the hotel is supposed to recognize that you are in fact a diamond member, and so long as a room is available, are supposed to automatically offer an upgrade to a suite. I never get asked. It seems to me that so long as there are perks offered for a customer to make a choice to stay exclusively at one or another hotel operator, that perk ought to be offered. I don't feel I should HAVE to ask. Not that I really care. It's just a matter of "if this is what you are marketing to entice me to stay at a Wyndham branded hotel, and you DON'T offer the perks when they are due, what does that say about the quality of your program?" If I call the company's 'hotline' I always get acknowledged right away for being a diamond member. Something must pop up on their screen that says so. I wonder if something should also pop up on the reservation screen at the front desk to say, "This is a diamond member of your hotel. What can you do to make his stay extra special today?" In a given year I spend between $6,000-$10,000 on hotel rooms. That is not business I would think any hotel operator would want to lose. Again, I could care less. A room is a room. But it would be nice to at least be acknowledged or asked. I might turn it down anyway. What are your thoughts?

They need to up their service I think. You shouldn't have to ask each time.

I agree with you here. It should be a given. I am a diamond member and they should recognize that.

You need to squeal my friend. They're not honoring their agreement with you and that is unacceptable given how much you spend overall.

I checked in to a Hampton Inn in Paducah and was automatically upgraded to a suite. I’ve been welcomed as a silver/gold member every time I check into a Hampton.

WoW! You could have asked for any special treatment from those hotels. You can make a review of their hotels as well.

Mr. Diamond Member! Aren't we special (Just kidding) I'm thinking by not offering it to you it's one more suite they have available for non-members and extra $ for the hotel? Of course, I have no idea as I am not a hotel traveler like you.

It's good you get treated well for your reward program. IF I did what you did - traveled a lot for business or pleasure and had a rewards program like that I would hope to be treated well by the hotel staff.

You're probably tired of hotels.... but I would ask about it. BUt then that's me. I don't travel out of town much, so the upgrade would be a big deal to me. I wonder if you could mention their lack of mentioning it
