Have you tried Kava Kava?

This is one of the supplements I bought a couple of weeks ago but haven’t tried it yet. I believe Kava Kava comes from some type of root, and is popular in some other countries in the form of a tea. It’s supposed to promote relaxation, relieve stress and anxiety. I bought it in the pill form, 200mg. I have read online that there is a host of possible side effects including damage to the liver with prolonged use. I am still trying to do more research. If I decide to take it, I will probably take it once a month or pretty sporadically and not on an every day basis. Have you tried this, in either pill or tea form, and if so could you share your experience? Thanks in advance!

I have never heard of it actually. And I am afraid to take herbal supplements because my sister who happens to be a doctor warned me about it.

Which ones specifically? Or just a blanket warning about all of them?

@maezee A blanket warning of all herbal supplements. One time I joined her and her doctor friends for dinner and they were discussing about a surgery one of them performed and the patient bled a lot. The patient didn't inform the doctor that she was taking herbal supplements. Herbal supplements can actually thin out the blood like aspirin and once you get wounded you wouldn't stop bleeding.

Sounds interesting and promising but anything that affects the liver is bad in the long term use since liver is one part of our body that once damage it is hard to restore it back to its original function. If that herb does affect the liver then I won't take it since it means it is poison to the body. Our liver is the first organ to filter out those that are toxic to our body and disposed them safely out of our body. But if this herb does affect the liver it means it is potentially harmful to us. They should make more studies and maybe develop it to a more or less toxic to us.

I have heard of it but never had it. I don’t think I’d try it with those bad side effects.

Yes I had taken this I believe in liquid from those drops many years ago when I was working..it did not harm me but I cannot advise as I do not recall if it helped me or not. Just be sure it does not interact with any prescribed meds Maezee sometimes these supplements can have a great deal of affect on you.

I don't take supplements unless my doctor recommends.
