More beanies for babies

@JudyEv don't blame ya there, hon. i'm wonderin' if'n the same's hit me? i've still yet to e'en sandwich a quilt i finished back the end 'f july/first part 'f august. need to get 'er done, 'twas to be the aunts birthday present....then thoughts turned she might get't fer Christmas. i've jest a major case 'f the i don't wanna's. the positive note bein' that when ya feel like pickin' yarn'n hook, ya do such fer a very worthy cause.

@crazyhorseladycx I would like to get rid of that drawerful of wool too so that's quite an incentive.

I've started on the next one now. I have a spurt then get sick of it and don't do any for a while.

@oahuwriter That's good of you to do that. Every little bit helps, doesn't it?

@JudyEv Exactly, and we do what we can when we can. But it feels great to give back. I went to what is called Laulima Project that helps families in need. They need lots of things but they want new, so I donated some stuffed animals and a big doll for them. KNON a local tv news team helps annually with the giving drive and some of them will be at shopping malls across Hawaii, today. But my schedule was different so I went to the office to donate which is way up in the mountains. It was a splendid day, for me as I relaxed in the mountain air waiting for the bus. I went to Saver's too donate an old but hardly used hair blow drier. Giving back to the community and State gives one a good feeling.

@JudyEv Sorry, it is my mistake. You are right, it is the knitting rather than crochet. My mom is good at both. Our Xiao Bai does have crocheted sweaters but we will change it when he has a bath

Your bear is very cute indeed but the outfit looks more like knitting than crochet. They're not quite the same.

@youless Xiao Bai is a very lucky little bear to have some changes of clothes.

@JudyEv That's a good number of people. You don't meet after Christmas, or is it only for the holidays.

@just4him I think the meetings will start again in February.

We had 13 at the meeting which is really good for our group. In three weeks, we'll have our Christmas wind-up.

When I have another lot done, I'll take them to the same friend again

@JudyEv they did, it was a memorable moment! The doctor also gave us porcelain shoes with their names and date of birth!

@JudyEv while waiting in the car for someone I read and while watching movies I do surveys or mylot.

I don't it waiting in the car while Vince is in a shop perhaps. Sometimes I do it in front of TV.

@JudyEv I did not know about the yellow colour, that is a shade I like.

@LadyDuck I do too but - no yellow beanies!

I like the pastel ones too. I don't make any yellow ones as they say it makes the babies look jaundiced.

@JudyEv there are 8 of us and we have a few ladies that do the odd help out when they can - we have been going for a year now and in our stash for winter we already have 29 knee blankets for the wheelchair home, 8 bedjackets for bedridden ladies and a few dozen bedsocks for the new recruits at the Home for aged (we have about 6 in the area)

That's really commendable. That's a lot of items.

@Inlemay It's amazing how the numbers mount up. I can do a beanie in a night usually.

@JudyEv Our grandson is now 16, strong, healthy, smart (most of the time for a teenager, lol!) and is taller than me. God sure has blessed us all.

Some prem babies are miniscule now but many grow up strong and healthy.

@JudyEv There's little babies everywhere that are very thankful and appreciative of your handy work to help keep their cute little heads warm!

Thanks. I find them easy to do. I don't really have to think about it as I'm going.

@JudyEv Oh nice. That's relaxing when you can do that. I can do scarves, but that just 1 stitch over and over again

These tiny ones are very quick to do. Mostly I can easily do one in an evening. I often have one in the car with me and do it if I need to sit and wait somewhere.

@arunima25 Certainly it gets easier with practice.

@JudyEv That's a good way to use your time when waiting. I am not good with crochet but I see the fast moving fingers of my daughter. I think it comes easy with practice.

I think they've been beanies for a long time. They are certainly great on a cold day.
