We’re going to see an old friend on Sunday and on way we’re dropping off some more crocheted beanies to a different friend. She will deliver them a children’s hospital where hopefully they will grace the heads of premature babies. A lot of heat is lost through the head and prem babies have large heads in comparison to their bodies.
There are another 41 beanies here and I just need a few more rows on another and that will be 42. I’m sure I have enough wool for another 42 but we’ll see.
I’m off to writing group in a moment so I’ll catch you all (my) tomorrow.

@JudyEv don't blame ya there, hon. i'm wonderin' if'n the same's hit me? i've still yet to e'en sandwich a quilt i finished back the end 'f july/first part 'f august. need to get 'er done, 'twas to be the aunts birthday present....then thoughts turned she might get't fer Christmas. i've jest a major case 'f the i don't wanna's.
the positive note bein' that when ya feel like pickin' yarn'n hook, ya do such fer a very worthy cause.

@crazyhorseladycx I would like to get rid of that drawerful of wool too so that's quite an incentive.

@oahuwriter That's good of you to do that. Every little bit helps, doesn't it?

Exactly, and we do what we can when we can. But it feels great to give back. I went to what is called Laulima Project that helps families in need. They need lots of things but they want new, so I donated some stuffed animals and a big doll for them. KNON a local tv news team helps annually with the giving drive and some of them will be at shopping malls across Hawaii, today. But my schedule was different so I went to the office to donate which is way up in the mountains. It was a splendid day, for me as I relaxed in the mountain air waiting for the bus. I went to Saver's too donate an old but hardly used hair blow drier. Giving back to the community and State gives one a good feeling.

These beanies are so cute
My mom can crochet so well. Unfortunately I can't learn it and this ability is lost in my this generation. If my mom there, she would be helpful to make more beanies in a short time
Look at our stuffed bear. His whole set was crocheted by my mom

that is so kind. Our twins were premature and one of the things I remember about going home (14 days after they were born) was the beanie they each got!

I belong to a knitting and crochet group that have just delivered 192 bed socks to the home for aged, 118 beanies and scarves to the orphans and we have 18 layettes for newborn babies which we will do in January - it seems we are on the same wavelength

@JudyEv there are 8 of us and we have a few ladies that do the odd help out when they can - we have been going for a year now and in our stash for winter we already have 29 knee blankets for the wheelchair home, 8 bedjackets for bedridden ladies and a few dozen bedsocks for the new recruits at the Home for aged (we have about 6 in the area)

What a kind and thoughtful thing for you to do! I know those sweet little babes will enjoy those soft beanies. I have a precious photo of our grandson in a blue crocheted beanie when he was born at 30 weeks weighing 2 1/2 pounds.

@JudyEv Our grandson is now 16, strong, healthy, smart (most of the time for a teenager, lol!) and is taller than me. God sure has blessed us all.

@JudyEv Oh nice. That's relaxing when you can do that. I can do scarves, but that just 1 stitch over and over again

God bless you! You are doing it for such noble cause. My younger daughter is crocheting a few beanies in her free time to sell in Christmas fair for fund raising. She finished two but then she gifted one to her friend who liked it a lot. So we have one left now.

@arunima25 Certainly it gets easier with practice.

@JudyEv That's a good way to use your time when waiting. I am not good with crochet but I see the fast moving fingers of my daughter. I think it comes easy with practice.

not sure when wooly hats started being called beanies - I have a few though - light and useful on cold days like today

Well that looks like it took you a few hours-- I come from a long line of non-knitters and sewers so I appreciate people that can. Great cause too! :)
