Venice suffers the terrible flood. Probably it is the worse one in 50 years. Venice is a beautiful and ancient city. I hope the flood won't damage more.

I guess , the flood isn't as deep as when there is a flood after rhe typhoon here in the Philippines. It is sometimes waist deep. I wonder what caused the flood there ?

The heavy rain caused the flood in Venice, I guess. But the main reason may be the global warming?

The flood was 2 Meters, very deep. The bad weather caused the flood. A portion of a highway collapsed yesterday due to a landslide in the north of Italy.

Venice is sinking and tilting to the east, so YES, the city will be flooded more and more.

Venice is already a city on the water, but the flood makes everything worse.

@LadyDuck It sounds so terrible! I don't know that there can be big cruises ships in Venice.

@youless The big problems of Venice started when they modified some canals to let the big cruise ships in. Stupidity of those politicians who wanted to make more money from tourism. Now the foundations of Venice have been damaged by the waves caused by those ships. Just BAN them before it's too late!

I don't know what humans can do in this kind of situation. Perhaps wait for the good weather and then the flood will be gone?

That is sad and some even predict that this city is slowly sinking by the year. I think that the city is really in danger and no engineers are able to keep it afloat.

When we experienced the worst flood in history, our suspicion is the climate change, global warming or whatever but for sure there was too much rain in that September of 2009. Maybe that is also the case in Venice.

Venice has slowly been sinking for centuries. The city should never have been built on that location.

In fact some places are also in danger since the sea level is higher and higher in recent years. It may take a long time but at the end these places will be gone.
