Our Little Housekeeper

Our little housekeeper came today. She washed some curtains, cleaned and dusted and did some cobweb patrol.
Her baby was fussy (he's used to being held a lot); and he might be teething. She ended up carrying him on her hip for quite some time while she cleaned. I don't know how this is going to work out when he starts walking. (He's 6-months old.) Our house is not childproof; and I don't want to babysit. I know. There are worse problems in the world. But does anyone have any suggestions? In the summer her 6-year-old will also be accompanying her.
Still, we would be at a loss without her because we'd have to hire a stranger which I am reluctant to do.
How are things going in your part of the world today?

Our laundry woman used to bring along her toddler granddaughter. But the toddler just plays with the tablet and we have 2 housemaids to assist. But I were alone I wouldn't allow that arrangement.

She gave me the impression that her fiance was going to watch the baby; and then she just showed up with him the first day. I was not thrilled!

@LindaOHio it is annoying to have a baby when what you need is a helper. You probably need to look for another.

@Alexandoy What makes it difficult is that she's family. She's my husband's second cousin.

Baby gates can be a best friend. Then you only need one safe room.

That's a good idea; and we have some. Thanks.

@LindaOHio I had them for the dogs when they were puppies and now they are handy for containing Adeline when I dont want to chase her through the house.

I like the idea Eva had with the baby gates, just make sure you get some socket covers as well, those should be fairly cheap.

Some made suggestions of a baby gate; and I like that idea. Keep him confined to one room.

Baby Gates can be a life saver, and perhaps some inexpensive baby toys to keep the baby occupied!

the suggestions of baby gate, inexpensive toys and covering sockets are all good.
i just wonder, though, in the summer, you said her 6 yr old will also come with her. what will she do - babysit her baby brother or help with the chores? do you have to provide meals for all 3 of them?

No, I don't have to provide meals. The six-year-old son is supposed to keep an eye on the toddler (the baby will be walking by then.) That should be interesting.

You are very kind to accommodate that housekeeper.
I would not be able or equipped to allow that.
I hope you may find an alternative.
Things are fine here thanks but it is very cold.

Thank you for your comments. What part of the United States are you in? It was 52 and partly sunny today. The temps go up and down this time of year.

He is working during that time. That would be a great solution if it were possible!!!

we have had the same crew for 8 years now. I agree with you, I know them and they know the house!
