Oh, how I hate seeing text like this from my husband. I know his job has its risk as a mental health clinical tech some times getting hurt is part of the course. Doesn’t make me feel better when it’s almost 11pm and I get a text saying he is at the ER getting check out.
So now I’m sitting here eating my soup and waiting to see how and he is or isn’t hurt.

Aw, that is scary especially when you don't know the details why he was in ER.

I do know why he is in the ER he got kicked in the chest by a patient and we sent flying backwards to the ground. The why part was right in the text. Weather his ribs are broken or just bruised is what he was waiting to find out.

@ShyBear88 what a risky job he has. Maybe there should be done something about those accidents like a sick day vacation for a week and hazard pay as well.

@Alexandoy any and all accidents at work get covers and paid for by his work any medical bills is also covered by them. Like any job risk are involved when it’s not sitting behind a job. All medics position have that risk just like a police officer and so on. They do get paid time off when they ask off, they also only woke 3 days a week. Medical field you have to be ready for any and all things

@ShyBear88 I meant upsetting as in how it puts a dent in his day at work and how it must be worrying for you, wondering if he's okay.

@Starmaiden definitely not worried, if it was bad his boss would have called me and not him himself texting me. It’s part of job some times he ends up getting hurt. It doesn’t put a dent in his work he is a med tech at night time most patients are sleeping. He is off of work for a night. Either of are upset

Oh, scary. I read some of your responses in the comments, but I didn't see if you wrote what the results were, were his ribs bruise or broken?
I was told many times that I would've been good in the medical field. I assured them I would not be.
People in the medical field have to have both compassion for the patients, and still keep a distance so not to be too hurt when things happen. I lack both. I mean, I don't care that much, but once I do start caring, I can no longer distance myself.
I am also not physically strong. I'm fast, but both physically weak and lack grip strength. (An example, the other day I had to take a jar in for my wife, who is pretty much stuck in bed these days, to be opened because I couldn't do it.)
Saying that, I'm glad someone is willing to do the job, those of us aging folks will need them sooner or later.

@ShyBear88 I've just spent 2 and a half months watching my wife in the hospital and rehab. I saw times when nurses or aides had to even just turn her when she was too sick to roll over herself. She doesn't out weigh me by much, but I couldn't move her. When she came home last week she had a minor crisis that required me to lift her legs onto the bed. I could barely move one leg at a time. I have also had pain issues for decades, before I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I've had migraines since I was 11 and even more pain after I totaled a car shortly before my 19th birthday. Between 11 and 17 I also fell off 8 horses (well, I fell off one horse 3 times,) some much worse falls than others, none as serious as a few I witnessed.
I have always had to compensate for my lack of grip and strength by being able to move fast. Back in the late 1980s they had a "health fair" at my job. One of the booths had a grip tester. All 4 of my co-workers went down and tested in the top 4% of the population. They came up and nagged me to go down and take it. I finally did. Now, I honestly squeezed as hard as I could with one hand, my dominate hand and I was in the bottom 4%. I went over to my mother's after work and told her about it. She told me that she wasn't in the least surprised because she also had a weak grip.

@ElicBxn nurse tend to be strong they do a lot do that stuff daily. My husband has his share in the mental health unit. Some nights are better then others. He had to clean, pee, poop, change diapers if need. Start in lines but can’t give meds, assist in walking but he is night shift so a lot of what he does is checking in ever 15 min to make sure that person is breathing. Some times he does what it’s called a sitter where you physically sit in a room all night watching one person. He moved to a smaller hospital closer to where we live so they only hold 22 beds

Undetermined if broken or bruised but treatment for both is the same either way which is just letting them heal on there own.
In the medical field everyone does different thing. You don’t need to be physically strong unless your a nurse, or tech. A doctor doesn’t have. Also doctors do not restrain patients that is mostly security and male nurse some female nurses are strong enough tho do so.

I'm glad he is helping them inside instead of them wandering outside for unsuspecting people.
