We are richer by two towels

My last discussion was about an award Vince and I received for our volunteer work with the endurance riding association. We travelled half an hour this morning to have a coffee with the donor. We were given two lovely big blue towels which have been embroidered with the details of the award. We were really touched by the gift. On the way home we picked up the mail from the Post Office. This included a police clearance for one of the backpackers we befriended. She is from Italy and will be going to Canada to be with her boyfriend who we also met here. We have to scan the document and email it to her then post the hard copy to her parents in Italy. And also yesterday we talked on WhatsApp with one of Vince’s Nepalese friends. I think it was WhatsApp as we could see each other. Her sister is getting married in Nepal at the end of January and we’re invited to the wedding. I’m not sure that we’ll go though. We need to think about it. Altogether quite an eventful day or two. The photo is of one of the towels.

Why not? Do you think they look too nice? Maybe I'll give them to guests and do a bit of silent bragging.

@JohnRoberts Well - maybe eventually but I think they might last my lifetime. I have some that are ages old.

That's better than a certificate. You can use the towels.

Yes, thank you. I'm pleased it's something we'll be able to use. And each time I take them out of the cupboard, I'll be reminded of the gift.

@JudyEv I remember calling my parents from college and putting coins upon coins into the telephone. They only lived 30 minutes away!

Thanks. Today's technology is amazing. It used to be so expensive. You'd be talking overseas feeding coins into the machine and worrying about the cost.

@JudyEv I love the picture of the towel. Is that same thing written on the other towel too?

Is this original writing on towel, or you edited the photo? Where in Nepal?

I haven't edited the photo. The writing has been embroidered on the towels by machine. We would go to Kathmandu if we go.

I just asked what did you receive and I see that you posted the photo of those very nice towels. Does the Italian girl need special documents to go to Canada?

@JudyEv That is funny, she surely needs more papers if she has to get married in a foreign country.

I think she does. Maybe it's to get a visa. I'm not sure that she actually said. She and the French-Canadian are going to get married. They met on an island off Portugal at a fire-eating convention!! Have you ever heard the like?

@xFiacre That's true. The activities seem to come and go in spurts. Sometimes we have nothing on then all of a sudden we're busy - all with little stuff mostly.

I've never done a trip to Nepal, but I understand the flight can be exciting! I think it is safe to say that you can never have too many towels - and a hoopy frood knows where his towel is!
