It's a gelatinous mess

So, I, er.. okay I wasn't sure if I was going to share this or not but.. Let's just say I should stick with what I'm good at, reading. Let's face it, I'm great at ideas but bad at executing them, and I'm okay with that.
The above is what I sent to my friends, along with the picture above. (If you can't see the picture, refresh, come on none of us are new to the woes of mylot).
Yeah, I told a few here on mylot that I would take pictures of what I made but I'm a little afraid to do so. The soap is in the mold, what you see here is just the remnants of it, what I couldn't use.
Well, I will say one thing.. It's usable but what is in the molds (not pictured) don't look so pretty.
What I should have done, and I know it, is to cut the chunks of soap smaller while I was melting it. I didn't do that, and that was stupid of me. It caused me to have to melt and re-melt the soap at short intervals. The soap began to solidify again, so I would melt some while stirring others.
I got it mostly melted, but not all the way before i gave up. It just wasn't going to melt all the way. I scented it, colored it and poured it in the mold.
It isn't going to be as pretty as I had intended it to be. I don't think I'll share that picture here.

No, but I've seen Little Shop of Horrors and feel like it's the same message.2 people like this

Now I am envisioning soap mutating into small, terrifying blobs with mouths.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Indeed. I usually find "kill it now before it's too late" is pretty sound advice.

This is just the left overs. The finished product turned out better than I had first thought it would be. I use this as hand soap for the kitchen at the moment. I put it in a container and use a bit at a time so that it doesn't go to waste.

I spoke too soon actually. While it isn't the best, it isn't as bad as it turned out. I have a picture of the finished product, what was poured into the molds. I haven't shared it here because I am considering how i might work it into a discussion later.
My mother was a wonderful crafter, I seemed to have gotten very little if any of her crafting skills. As I was making these, I kept thinking "Mama, if you could only see me now you'd probably be laughing."

@dfollin I wish I knew how to make a photo collage on this computer. I am using Ubuntu / Linux now and have not familiarized myself with the programs yet.

@Tina30219 It will be awhile, but will do. I've seen a lot of creative soaps made out of the shot glass mold

The finished product turned out better than I had anticipated and I do not mind gifting them. Yes, practice will make perfect. I bought a shot glass silicone mold today for soap use and will make some creative soaps the next time I need soap.

I was afraid of remelting this as I didn't know whether it would change anything. A lot of people in my soap groups say that it wouldn't have, but I am now just using it as soap for washing my hands in the kitchen

@akalinus Exactly. I didn't want it to go to waste. I had considered saving it and re-melting it, but it really wasn't enough to do anything with.

Hmm, it doesn't look like meat to me, but I am curious why you thought it did? I am not offended.

@JustBhem Ah I see. The top part does look like it could be a round steak.
It no longer looks like this as I've used it to wash my hands several times.

Possibly, I know I'd appreciate any. Unfortunately, we don't talk that much because of a misunderstanding that I can't even remember... I just know that I don't go to her discussions now and she doesn't go to mine.

No, I've not thought of making those types of soaps. I thought it sort of looked like a dinosaur. The picture above isn't the soap that I made. This is what I'll throw out. I didn't want to heat it again because I was afraid it would impact the fragrance.
I poured a mold full of the soap and let it solidify. It looks better than I thought it would.

It looks like a cat or a dragon. To me, soaps don't need to be in perfect shapes.

Some friends of mine long ago made soap balls, using some herbs like lavender and lemon thyme. But I am not that clever. Not at all. I do know that you can get some special molds to shape them.

I joined a few groups on soap making a few months ago and have seen such beautiful pieces. There is one woman who has managed to create a dragon eye out of soap. It is simply beautiful with all the detail.
That herb soap ball sounds lovely. I would enjoy using it in the spring time.

Is it the first time you try to do soaps? I think you'll do great! It's an experimenting phase lol

It's the first time I've done this type of soap.
I've made sugar scrub before, I've made whipped soap before, and I've poured fragrance into castille soap before.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That's so nice, and what's your favorite kind of soap to make?

@samysotelo18 I like whipped soap the best, but not the process of making it but the way it feels on my skin.

It happens, oh well, try again.
