He got the promotion

So a little while back I had mentioned about my son possibly getting a promotion at work. Well I found out the other day that it has went through and he got it. Of course they told him it doesn't go into affect till they hire and train someone to fill his position. So it should be after right after the new year. He told me that he will start some of the training right now and they gave him the paperwork about the promotion. He showed it to me and they didn't have a effective date but he was suppose to sign and agree to it. I told him to not sign yet and ask them to put the date in there and then ask about when he will get the extra money now or will he get back paid for it or is it only effective when he actually starts in that position. They ended up putting the date that he signed and agreed in writing that he would start getting the pay from the date he signed it. I was surprised by that, but happy for him. They must really want him in the position cause he had asked for more money than they were originally offering him and he asked for an additional weeks vacation and they agreed without issue. That kind of made me think he should have asked for even more LOL. I'm happy for him and proud of where he is going in the company. He wants to move up in the company and that is a good thing. The only downside to it at this point is the hours he will be working are second shift, but that is where he started with them so it's not like he doesn't know what he is getting into.
