My husband I planned another trip to Cuba this year. We went from December 1st to 8th/9th (red eye flight). We knew this year we would not be around for the church turkey draw. Last year we bought tickets not knowing when we were going away. This year we knew but my husband still bought tickets. I asked him why knowing we would be away. So we had to give our tickets to someone who was attending and who had the freezer space in case we won a ham or turkey or both and if THEY won as well.
As it turned out we won 2 turkeys and 2 hams. What the heck am I going to do with all that? The woman who held our tickets won 2 turkeys and 1 ham. What the heck? Did they not sell many tickets, or what?
She is going to give them to me at church tonight. I have zero space in my freezer. Well, I threw out two cartons of old ice cream so I could probably fit one in there. I am giving some away to my daughter's fiance's parents. So he better come by tonight and pick them up (or my daughter go there, but she is sick in bed right now).
Two turkeys and two hams? Really? We do serve both turkey and ham on Christmas Eve but I prefer the stuffed turkey rolls. If I get a real turkey I'm just going to stuff it with Stove Top Stuffing. But a turkey roll takes 4 hours tops. A full on turkey will take all day to cook and I won't be able to estimate timing at all. I hope I can get rid of two turkeys. But in the meantime, I think it may be cold enough to just keep them in the trunk of my car (it's been snowing all day).
This seems to happen to us every year.

The ham I don't have a problem with. Just put it in the slow cooker for a few hours. I gave a turkey to the local women's shelter one year. The next year I was going to do the same thing but they said they had already received donations and didn't need it. I ended out donating it to the Salvation Army Christmas gift basket drive. Sometimes my husband's work gives him a turkey voucher for Christmas and he gives it to the cleaning lady. Lately they have just been giving us a $25 gift card to the grocery store. That I can use.

Wow, you were super lucky in winning hams and turkeys. Now just apply that luck to superlotto.

Great prizes - use what you can and maybe donate the surplus to a homeless centre or such
