Toothache and tooth extraction

Just after we had our company Christmas party, when I was fast asleep I was awoken by a sudden throbbing pain in my mouth. At first I could not pinpoint where the pain was coming from but after I woke up I could sense the source of my pain was from the farthest molar tooth. I checked and there’s no crack on my tooth it was like it was pushing the molar adjacent to it. I ignored it and just made a quick mouthwash. But the morning after the pain came back so i bought some pain reliever but the toothache didn’t leave me I made appointment with the dentist the next day. The dentist hesitated and just gave me antibiotics and pain reliever. The whole weekend was very painful and I skipped meals because I couldn’t chew anymore. The antibiotics seem to not working anymore. I decided to make appointment with the dentist and insisted on having it extracted. Today, I finally have it extracted and what a relief I felt. The pain is gone but I expect pain will come back after anesthesia will wear off. I have pain meds to take care of this and it’s different from what I was suffering before.

It looks like the wisdom tooth which is at the edge of the jaw. That is really painful.

You got it right. They don’t last long and causes more trouble than benefit to the mouth.

@Alexandoy Though it has been years that tooth caused no trouble at all. Only this time it caused havoc in my life. Now he’s out of my system now.

@rsa101 I also had experienced that. When you said it was like pushing the other molar I suspected it was the wisdom tooth.

@RebeccasFarm Mee too I started to put in false teeth to the one they extracted so chewing would not be that bad especially I lost the molar tooth.

I hate tooth pain! I am sorry you had to go through that. Wonder why the dentist didn't extract it the first time?

She was anticipating that the antibiotics could help it stop. But it didn’t help and it even got worse.

I had removed it also during my teen years but I never realized I still have one on my left side.

Had the tooth a cavity? Did the dentist performed an X-Ray before pulling it out?

No cavity on my tooth but it seems there was an infection in my root that’s why its so excruciatingly painful. It was my wisdom tooth that made it.

@LadyDuck it would be complicated if the growth of the tooth is incorrect. You’ll be needing an xray of it so the dentist can determine how to extract it safely.

@crazyhorseladycx From what I read its because the tooth shows up at a certain age range from 19 and above those were the times when the human is supposed to have reached his/her wisdom.

Yup now that its removed i feel much better and could chew the food much better than when that tooth was there. I just need to have the gums healed and i think I can eat normally again.

I felt instant relief after the extraction. The Wisdom Tooth we meant to be removed since it will become a nuisance pushing itself outwward and pushing other adjacent teeth too.

That's a shame. I had an abscess under a molar once and it was very, very painful. I hope your mouth heals quickly.

Actually after extraction I felt much better than the tooth stays there. I just need for it to heal. The doctor said it was the wisdom tooth that was removed and that is what is expected of them they easily gets to deteriorate than other tooth.

I have one ready. After the extraction the pain literally was gone except of course the pain from the extraction area. But it’s a different pain much more tolerable than it was before.
