Did You Know This About Vanilla Extract

Was planning to make some peppermint patties later this week. Bought a bottle of vanilla extract. Never read the ingredients of the vanilla before today. I usually do, but not on a product I have been using for years. Check this out. 91% Alcohol! I was shocked. Maybe you all knew this but I was surprised. No wonder this stuff is so strong and you only use a small amount in recipes. Who knew! Did you know this about vanilla extract? You can clearly see in my photo 91% alcohol.

@CarolDM I did not know that. Now, I understand why we use a little bit of it in things.

I did not know until now. I like to have vanilla extract mostly in homemade eggnog and Crock-Pot french toast.

@caroldm Goodness, if I had known that when I was 16 I'd never have been out of my mother's kitchen cupboard. Still, can you imagine drinking it? I thought you were going to reveal that the extract was a laxative or cured warts or something.

A small amount gives baking a good flavor.
