Brrr! It's Cold Here!

We are all settled in here in Branson. It's 27 degrees with a wind chill of 19 degrees. Can we say COLD?? The custodial staff have been busy putting salt on all the sidewalks here to prevent injuries. There is ice everywhere. We didn't do anything today because of the weather. Light rain and the roads were icy. They were asking people to stay off the roads because of the weather. We have a 10% chance of snow and will probably get it. My husband and I are jinxed on going places in the winter and snow usually follows us. This happened twice on two trips to Tennessee. We got news today that a tornado ripped though our hometown so we are praying that all is well at home. Tomorrow morning I am going to a meeting if I can get up and dressed in time and stand the weather. After that if the weather has cleared up with will go do some sightseeing. I hope you are all having a great week! Photo credit: Pixabay, public domain

I hope you can enjoy your time in Branson despite the weather. Are you there on business, pleasure, or both? We also got hit with a bunch of tornadoes here in Florida this past Friday. I have been watching the current system that spawned the tornado in your hometown, and I'm hoping the damaging storms don't eventually hit us as well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything is okay in your hometown after the tornado. Stay warm, and be safe in that wintery mess!

From what I heard it hit north of the city and that is where we are. I guess it will just depend if it went directly north or to the east or western side north. There are a lot of people out of electricity also and they said it will be a few days for some to get it back on. If that is/was the case; it was good that we were gone.

@moffittjc Got confirmation on house day before we left. House untouched but total devastation 1/4 of a mile away. Homes wiped totally away The tornado went both south and north of us. Hit about a mile north of the house. Lots of firewood available to those who need it.

I'm sorry a tornado ripped through your home town. I hope everything will be good when you return. Stay safe during your trip. Ice is the nasty part of winter.

I know. I'm a bit worried myself. My hubby seems to be unbothered. Do we tend to worry more as women??

@LindaOHio We finally got in touch with a friend who checked on the house for us. He said at first the house looked fine, but came back and double checked. It hit 1/4 of a mile from our house though. We were very lucky.

Brr. That IS cold. By the way, I LOVE Branson, and we vacation there often. We usually stay at a "resort" there called Green Valley.

@kareng Yeah. Not sure exactly where Grand Crowne is. I know that Green Valley is more considered Kimberly City. But it is right on Table Rock Lake, and we always have a good time there and really like the place. Nothing fancy, just the way I like it.

Wow, you just missed the tornado, how lucky is that? I don't ever want it to get that cold here, I know I couldn't handle it.

Very lucky!! 1/4 of a mile away several homes wiped off the landscape. Nothing left but debris. It's sad.

@rebelann It is strange how some areas in the U.S. are prone to them. Same with hurricanes!

Yes, very sad @kareng makes me glad I live here where there hasn't been a tornado ever as far as I know, at least not since 1959.

Only a few flakes there and nothing stuck. My mom is the one that kept us inside. I can't leave her alone so we all chilled. We did get out on our last full day there. So not too bad. My hubby took it all in stride.

@Tampa_girl7 I was entertained. I had a 1000 piece puzzle to put together. I only got 3/4 of it done. I needed one more day or half day.
