I hate to admit but the Parish priest gives us the most boring sermons of the Mass. But tonight he kinda surprise me and every one woke up from their naps. People can't help but close their eyes if the homily isn't getting through their heads.
He told us a story a person who envied the neighbor, to the point were the neighbor lost a love one and bought a coffin. The person also bought a coffin which was a buy one take one offer, every body laughed.
I think the lesson here is appreciate what you have, even your talent. Don't compare yourself with others.
Anyways, I'm at my fourth mass out of nine so far so good.

I hear you. I am not religious. I used to go to church because my homie liked a girl who was religious. Yep, we going to hell. Not that it came close to converting me, went to bible camp and everything so saw my share of preachers. Some of them were amazing. Do not need to believe to get good life lessons. My homies selfish ways taught me something. Who knew that can work.

Hello @crossbones27 I think it's the lesson that counts, regardless how boring they are. I mostly got 20% if it's a boring sermon.

I never knew what the parish priest was on about during his sermons when I was a teenager, a talented raconteur he was not. But every now and then we'd get a visiting priest and it was like night and day.

Hello @BarBaraPrz I don't remember what the priest sermons when I was young but I do remember him being controversial and doesn't get you bored.

Such a smart lady. I try to tell everyone that but no one listens. Compete against yourself is all you have to do in this world but they design it so poorly.

I have encountered so many priests who are not good in the homily, boring and nonsense. That is one reason why I don't go to church regularly.

That is true sometimes we are so preoccupied at looking at other's blessing but we neglect the blessing we are also receiving. I think you should start appreciating yours before you envy others of theirs. Stop comparing because they have different circumstances they face in their lives.

Hello @rsa101 Even rich people have problems, probably not the same problems we have.

I'd be so embarrassed if I fell asleep during a sermon
. Sounds like the priest must be used to it.
