I didn’t know this but in the State of Virginia you can not make death threats to a healthcare staff. What? One any time of death threats should be taken seriously. Last night my husband was on desk duties while he healths his ribs. A patient came in voluntarily because he felt that he was going to do harm to himself or others. Okay that’s behavior but when they tried to get him for treatment the man we’ll decided that he was going to threaten everyone which for 2 hours they delt with that on the mental health floor of where my husband works. So my husband charge nurse for the night decided to call the police. At first for 45 minutes the police kept telling the staff there wasn’t anything they could do and they had to deal with it. So my husband in his smart went to the computer and looked up state laws and printed and brought it to the police officers at first they waved it off saying they had to wait for there higher up to come down which he did and the nurse showed him the law. The head office told the other offices to take him away and arrested him for a felony for death threats against health staff. My husband being a smart butt he is told the officers I know when I come to work I don’t like to be threaten I like to go home to my family in once piece and this clearly a man that has behavior needs and not mental needs he understands right from wrong

Good thing your husband outsmarted them. If not, they are going to deal with that patient for a long time

They wouldn’t deal with him for a long time. If it isn’t a mental health issue they would be released as soon as possible they don’t have a facility for longer patients they work with only short term patients and then they get removed or released based on the doctors report.

I think a threat to life even for anyone constitutes a crime here. However, the problem is in the proof. It's good that your husband has the mind to call the police. I would hate it if there was a physical encounter.

The nurses called the police not him. All my husband did was look up the law and serviced the office and the charge nurse the print out of the law

@Alexandoy no they where no worries just not there problem. They get patients that ate hard to handle but they can Sedate them as need as well as restrain them but voluntarily patients have a right to refuse and leave as they need but if they cause trouble it’s really not the hospitals problem it’s a public services problem. Since they are mental health United the police just where being lazy and not wanting to take the guy and do there paperwork.

@ShyBear88 so the nurse may have been too worried on the situation.
