Daniel Hillard is a voice actor who is married with three children, Chris, Lydia and Natalie, and lives in San Francisco, California. Although he is devoted to his children, his wife, Miranda, can't stand his eccentricities and feels that he's unreliable and a poor disciplinarian. One day he quits his job over a dispute about a questionable script. He comes home and throws a wild birthday party for his son, Chris, including animals, even though he was not allowed to have a party due to his bad report card. Miranda comes home from work because of a call she received due to a neighbor's complaint. Miranda is furious that Daniel threw the party behind her back. This is the final straw for her; and she files for divorce.
At the first custody hearing, the court awards full custody to Miranda. They will award joint custody if Daniel finds a suitable residence and a job within three months. Daniel manages to find an apartment and a job as a shipping clerk at a TV station. Daniel offers to take the children after school but Miranda refuses. He finds out that Miranda is trying to find a housekeeper; and he secretly alters the phone number on the classified ad form so that no one will be able to call. Then he uses his voice acting skills to call in as several bad applicants. On the final call he uses a British accent and says that he is a nanny named Euphegenia Doubtfire. Impressed, Miranda invites him over for an interview.
If you want to know what happens next, you will have to watch the movie. You can imagine what situations Mrs. Doubtfire/Daniel will get into; and there's a lot more to come! I found this movie quite entertaining. Maybe not as believable as Tootsie; but entertaining nonetheless. Robin Williams does a good job as Mrs. Doubtfire; and I recommend this movie.
This movie is rated PG-13.

I love this movie! Have seen it many times and not always from the beginning. Never get tired of it. By the way, there will me a Mrs. Doubtfire musical next year on Broadway.
