Wrapping presents or gift bags?

Well I finally got round to wrapping my Christmas presents, a job which I hate as I am not good at it it. They always look as if a 5 year old has wrapped them! When my daughter was at home she would wrap them for me as she was very creative and could make them look beautiful. I really miss that. I have taken to buying a few gift bags this year for presents that are awkward to wrap. It sure takes the stress out of getting tangled in paper and sellotape and some of them are very pretty. Do you use gift bags or do you prefer to wrap your presents?

And you loose all the charm of giving presents on this occasion.

Gift bags here are a little expensive but if you just use then for awkward shaped presents you don't need too many.

I use gift bags for those shapes that are almost impossible to wrap.

Yes, I am hopeless at wrapping bottles and they look nice in a gift bag.

@sprite1950 I bought special bags for bottles, it takes too long to wrap a bottle.

I am also very bad at rapping things. My elder brother is very good at it. Whether it is packing anything or packing my bags for long tours my brother used to do it for me. Now my wife does that for me.

I get in such a mess with the paper and sticky tape. Lucky you that you have your wife to do it for you!

@BelleStarr It is! I don't actually live in Corsham, I live 5 miles away in a town called Chippenham but MyLot placed me in Corsham. I always lose the end of the tape and then can't find it again. So annoying!

We still wrap presents for our immediate family but use gift bags for friends and extended family.

I suppose it is nice to unwrap presents especially for children as they don't care what a parcel looks like but I always feel ashamed of the way mine look!

@sprite1950 My mom says the same about her wrapping. My husband does the wrapping and he does a good job

My husband is meticulous at wrapping gifts. I prefer wrapped boxes, but for items with odd shapes, there is nothing better than than a gift bag.

@DianneN I think that will be my New Year resolution. Never to buy wrapping paper again and stock up with gift bags and boxes!

@TiarasOceanView This year I gave money and gift vouchers to those I cannot decide what to buy for. It's so much easier and better than giving a present that wlll be stuck in the back of the cupboard and never used.

Like you, if they're an awkward shape, I might use a bag. And if I need to take one somewhere I might use both.

I am the worst. I get so frustrated with it. I rip the paper and lose the end of the tape.

I suck at wrapping presents, but I still prefer to wrap them. It's a going joke. When I hand over the present someone usually asks, "Did Stevie Wonder wrap this one?"

I like to wrap and bag them, but I do more boxes. I think the wrapped boxes simply look better under the Christmas tree. I just got started wrapping presents last night and am definitely feeling the Christmas spirit too.

I've never used boxes but it is a good idea. Do you buy pretty gift boxes?
