First Christmas my elder daughter is away from home. You bet, a mother's thoughts dwell on the separation as it was shown in the Old Testament - twins Esau and Jacob lived as far apart, Joseph brought to another land, Ruth went with mother-in-law in the land of Moab.
My daughter's studying in London is just for the time being but the separation is as real as missing one another tremendously. Especially this time of the year when only the three of us would really bond and spend Christmas our family's way.
Yesterday, my daughter sent a sketch of my younger daughter and me, saying how she misses the singing, the eating, the bonding.
Miss you, too, anak. Have a warm and wonderful Christmas just the same.

I can relate to that mothers feeling. I dread the thought of my daughters leaving the house for higher studies. But that time is fast approaching and I have to embrace the fact.
Merry Christmas!

Friends don't approve of my supporting my daughters now that they are professionals. I tell them that I would turn old and ninety and I would still be their mother guiding and supporting. A mother's role has no expiration date. It's our life - to live for our children.
Good tidings and blessings to you today, Christmas Day.

@arunima25 That is an absolute for me, too. My parents were my rock, and the love and support they gave me were unconditional.
You are a good parent, your teens will remember all your love. There will be a phase when they would assert their independence, and a crossroad dilemma when the facts of life set in, and most often, the young gets disillusioned, and they tend to find fault in the parents for overprotecting, but that will pass, and your children will realize the importance of your guidance, and your unconditional love. Brace your self for the changes, for inevitably these will come. Albeit rest your heart, for every thing will come to pass, as only good mothers who reared their children well would know.
Happy Christmas, again.

@eileenleyva We are never too old to outgrow the support and love from our parents. I am a mother of teenagers but still look forward to my mom's support and love. And I feel the same way for myself. I think my involvement in my children's life might shrink over period of time but I will always be there for them.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

What you are referring to about Esau and Jacob. Easu hated Jacob and Joseph was sold to be a slave from his brothers. Ruth is from the story of Shavuot where she follows her mother-in-law Naomi back to our land and she takes our People as hers and had King David in the family. Sorry, but, these are not comparisons to your daughter being away.

Just the reality that families do get separated.

Thank you. The internet is a blessing. Yet, that pales to the actual experience when family bonds together.
Happy Christmas.

Missing my Mom and Dad this Christmas, too. Dad passed in 2005 and Mom has been gone two years.

We can't help but miss our loved ones, don't we? They are always there, cherished in our hearts and in our memories.

Both my daughters, actually. The other one was on duty this Christmas Day. But I am all right, quite peaceful and contented in my Christmas Solitude. Thank you. A merry Christmas to you, too.

I will not see my daughter this year either as she is married and going to her husband's side of the family. I have a good relationship with her and will miss her so I know how you feel. My daughter is coming for the New Year so I am looking forward to that, What a lovely sketch, something you can look at often and treasure.
