Well, maybe not CPR but I helped an injured bird with a massage.
Many days I will open the blinds to the patio doors. I did this morning. And not thinking, I opened them all the way. The little birds will often fly into the door after seeing their reflection.
That happened this morning. A small goldfinch flew into the door and I thought he was dead. Both cats went running to the door and was talking to him.
I went out and gently starting rubbing his back, massaging his little chest as much as I could. His mouth was open but he was not making a sound. I can see where birds could get concussions like us, when they hit their little heads into a glass door.
After about five minutes he moved his tiny feet a little, looked at me and then without warning, flew away, up to the roof. He seems fine. Just needed a little help getting his senses back in order I guess.
Snapped this photo of the deck feeder. There are dozens of these little goldfinches. Maybe the one I saved is back in the feeder eating. Made me feel good to help the little bird.

Another good shot. I'm glad you were able to coax the little goldfinch back to life. When we had poplar trees at the other house, we had a ton of goldfinches.

. Must have been such a great feeling when he perked up and flew off.
