The Smallest Woodpecker

Was excited to see a Downy woodpecker at the deck feeder this morning. I have not seen one all year. They are so cool to watch. Very small, about the size of a sparrow.
They are actually the smallest woodpecker in North America.
This one looks like a female because I don't see any red on her head. Was lucky enough to snap a quick photo between the blinds at the patio door.
When you put out bird feeders you never know what might show up.
Ever seen one of these birds before?

great pic! yes ma'am, when i lived out'n yer neck 'f the woods i'd see 'em quite oft. alas, none 'round these parts.

@CarolDM by some 't least, eh? lol. the cats're jest doin' what comes natural. e'en when the resident cat 'twas 'llowed outdoors 'n well fed 'ndoors, she still caught critters. jest instinct fer 'em.

@crazyhorseladycx Of course you are missed. The feral are always up to no good around the b birds. But it is their survival. A hard battle.
