A Close Call for my Uncle

Talked to my uncle yesterday, as I do every day. He told me he felt like he had another light stroke. But he wasn't sure. He said he felt like he was going to pass out while he was in the bed. So he laid still waiting to pass out. But then the feeling passed.
I called the stepdaughter, she went to check on him, and of course he is ok now. But I get so worried when he tells me these things, being 500 miles away.
And he is on Hospice, and a DNR ( Do Not Resuscitate). So even if he went to a hospital, they couldn't do anything for him.
This happens every now and then and I have to take a step back and realize there is nothing I can do. We continued our conversation but I could hear a difference in his voice. He said it was a close call. A very close call.
I hope today is a better day for him.

I'm so sorry to hear this. It must be so hard for you to be so far away! I can't believe the family doesn't check on him on a regular basis.

Is it possible that it was just low blood sugar? That can also cause a feeling like you are going to pass out. Either way, I'm glad is okay and nothing serious happened. With you being so far away, I can imagine it's nerve-wracking not being able to do more for him.

@CarolDM My mom suffered from dementia, and she went downhill fast after my father passed away. So I can relate to what you’re going through. Even I was a great distance away as well—about 400 miles—and I felt helpless to do anything sometimes.

I was going to say I hope he went to the hospital, but then I read the DNR part. Still, there could be maybe other medications or adjustments to current ones he is on to help "slow" the process? I hope it all works out no matter the outcome,
