An enjoyable night spent with friends

We were seven at the table for dinner last night and it was very enjoyable. Four of the people are relatively new acquaintances but we thoroughly enjoyed meeting them and hope to see more of them in the future. We need some new friends as four have recently sold their houses and moved back to the city.
Like us, the four are beginning to have problems with deafness. We had drinks and nibbles in the lounge at first and pretty soon the three men were having a conversation on one side and the four women having a conversation on the other. That was fine and it’s difficult to do anything else under the circumstances.
So then we had dinner and chatted easily across the table, which is square. Once we’d finished, we continued to sit at the table and we all agreed it was easier to all share in the conversation because we could all hear better. I just thought it was an interesting point. We leave in a few hours to visit friends and I’m not sure about the internet situation. I hope you all have a wonderful New Year.

so glad yer meetin' new folks, hon. sounds a most 'njoyable time. i find visitin' 't the table much better than anywhere else'n the house. i'm sure those folks 'njoyed such jest's much. hopefully they'll be more get togethers'n the future.
safe travel wishes fer ya, hon. don't worry 'bout the net 'n this place. jest 'njoy yer time with friends. that 'tis way more 'mportant 'n then ya can play catch'p later, lol.
