I don't quite understand what I've done wrong in my life that things can't go smoothly. I am so angry right now I can't see straight.
I purchased my printer from Best Buy because HP did not have that particular model on sale. I saved $100. I didn't purchase a warranty at that time because you could purchase one direct from HP for 3 years for $35. Best Buy's was 2 years for $35. All you needed was your serial number.
Today I called HP because I couldn't find the link again on the website to order the warranty. I got on a chat line with a support rep who informed me that my printer was no longer under warranty; and the warranty had expired!!!! I received it on 12/18/19. She said that since I bought it through Best Buy the warranty period starts when the printer is received at their facility. So she gave me a link to a Smart Friend website where I could purchase a warranty... Are you ready for this???? $14.99 per MONTH or $99 for a 30-day one-incident warranty.
I then called Best Buy to see if I could still get the warranty. They informed me that I would have to bring the printer in so that they could see that it was still in good working order. That's not something I could do; and it would be difficult for my husband to do as well.
What happened to real customer service and the customer is always right?

@CarolDM I called back Best Buy; and they said I have a year's warranty through them. That's something anyway. I've never had a problem with an HP printer but.....without an extended warranty I wouldn't put it past that thing to break down.

@LindaOHio I think I would call them back, that is not right. You have no control how long the printer is at Best Buy. That doesn't sound right to me. It should start the day you buy it.

Sounds like the old Circuit City days and their manipulative warranty practices.
If a Best Buy mysteriously burns down overnight, I’ll know what happened.....
