Spoiler alerts - 2019 A very daring and often seriously minded comedy about a German boy (Jojo) with an unusual imaginary friend, Adolph Hitler. It is set in 1945 in Berlin, in the last months of the war. Jojo is a gawky ten year old kid who struggles to tie his own shoe laces and clearly too nice and naive to be a member of the Hitler Youth to who he is recruited though he tries his best. This is worrying as his mother is an active resistance fighter and there is a Jewish girl hiding in his house. Jojo finds his brainwashing unraveling A brave film that upsets some just for using satire to teach about the Holocaust and other horrors of the war. It's critics largely miss the point. Taika Waititi, who made Thor Ragnorak directs and plays Hitler, and Scarlett Johansson is Jojo's mother, with a cameo by Stephen Merchant as very slimy and creepy Gestapo commandant.
