Day 154 Promise 204 Psalm 34:22 The LORD redeems the soul of his servants: and none of them who trust in him shall be desolate. When you redeem something, you buy it back, pay off the debt, recover, or fulfill a promise. David said the LORD redeemed the soul of His servants. God redeems lost or stolen souls. Souls became lost or stolen in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve sinned against God by listening to Lucifer, the devil or Satan. God promised He would redeem them and they would be His once again. This promise brought hope and hope brings confidence instead of desolation. Genesis 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (KJV) Isaiah 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely, he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes, we are healed. (KJV) As Christians, you have the hope of salvation through God’s fulfilled promise when He sent His Son, Jesus, to redeem your soul from Satan and give you eternal life. The only thing you need to do is believe the promise. God did the rest. Is your hope secure? Have you believed the promise? Let’s pray: Father, from the beginning You promised to redeem Your people from Satan’s grasp. Thank you for fulfilling Your promise and redeeming Your people. When Satan tempts me, help me remind him I don’t belong to him anymore. I am Yours. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 7 January 2020 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay.
