Shut the screen door

It never fails with the kids. They go out to play and remember to shut the front door almost all the way clothes but leaving it cracked. But do you know what they do? Forgot to shut the screen door so of course if the wind blows it goes flying open and banging into the house. I keep telling them one day when they do that it’s going to flying open and the glass on the screen door is going to break. I don’t know how many times today I’ve had to tell them to latch the door.

I don't have a screen door (or kids for that matter), but I understand your problem. Perhaps you could take a bit off their pocket money every time they do it - that might teach them.

@jaboUK you make it sound like children are so sinful that they need to pay for a crime. They actually very normal for there age forgetful and need to be told like a 100 time to do the same thing but one day they will have to do the same thing when they have kids. It would be nice if there grandparents had replaced the whole door and screen years ago when it was broken so now we have to live with a door that had no chain. We have replaced the screen handle twice now for its oldest. With a proper chain them leaving it without pushing it shot to latch won’t be a problem.

@ShyBear88 I'm so out of touch with children nowadays, but we were always given a few pence every week unless we'd been naughty.

Mine has a door closer. I think it’s called pneumatic door closer. It’s very useful when my nephews are here.

My screen door doesn’t have a glass though. It was probably removed because of the glass. Some are too fast but as far as I know it can be adjusted.

It’s suppose to have a chain on it but the home owners or someone took it off years before we moved in and never replaced it. The whole door plus the screen needs to be tossed and new one put on

kids don't always listen, hopefully your door doesn't break so they don't have to learn the hard way.

Mommy yells then every time. It’s not my door it’s it’s there grandparents door and they no better then to leave the doors not latched they break it they bought or more like will do the time. I wish the door had its spring but it doesn’t and they didn’t put a new one one before we moved in.
