Self Control....How to achieve it...?

I was reading an article where the writer was talking about self control, the point that draw my attention was, he stated we need more than will power to achieve self control. For all the years that I have studied, read, even practiced, is when it comes to self control- you need to be strong willed. What do you think...??? Well the writer says-" emotions are instruments in our decision making and our actions." True may be, may be I have never realised.... How much do you agree.. ????

Yes, and if there is something we need or will loose like a job, we are forced to have self control!!
