A pleasant day to ever While going over my wall in the Facebook I come across with the message of my friend Peter Solis Nery, a writer and a poet. This is what he writes: “If u can’t help but compare ur life with others, compare it with the poor & unfortunate, not with the rich & famous. Then, maybe you will learn to be truly grateful, and less selfish.” What do you think? Is he right that to compare our lifestyle with those poor and unfortunate is a sign of true gratefulness?

Some of us gripe and complain, because he don't have this or that. When we compare our lives with those who are extremely poor, it's a humbling experience! We feel ashamed, for complaining and blessed, because we realize how much more we have. Selfish people, don't care about the wellbeing of the poor.

You're right. Selfish people reject poor people.

@Nakitakona This is also spoken about in the Bible. To the rich man, 'sit here!' And to the poor man, stand over there:(

That is one area of life that I am battling with that successful and rich people live in mansions while I live near a scrapyard but being happy that the neighborhood is quiet and nice to have a huge backyard.

@Nakitakona That is true since the saying is that rich people do not have to worry about being chased by the media 24 hours a day like celebrities do.

Those rich and famous live in luxury while we're just living in a simple way.

I believe we should never compare ourselves to anyone other than our younger selves. The message is great though, I think it should be more of who should we be thinking of more when we start to complain about the little trivial things. Never compare, just admire the fact that there have been people who are in poverty, who are sick, who are in rags and realize that they can make it another day without luxury, so can you.

We shouldn't compare our life with others, we just should be grateful with what we have.

@nela13 It's inherent to a person to be happy or not it's a personal choice.

You're right. Just be contented of what we have and be thankful about it.

I think that could work in some way....but I'd feel bad comparing myself to others less fortunate, we need to know how to balance being humble, to avoid sounding like "oh I have more than all those people" We need to be happy and grateful with the things we have now and learn to enjoy life
