So what's your name?

Most people here don't know my name as it's not on my profile, I'm not sure why, perhaps I wanted to feel more anonymous when I joined many years back.
Some people like others to know their christian name and others reveal their complete name but how do you feel about it? Do you think people are more likely to warm to you if they know your name or do you prefer to keep a little air of mystery?
My name is Linda, a common British name and very popular in the 50s and 60s. Good morning from me to you wherever you are in the world.

I couldn't remember whether I had told you my name and we have been talking for quite a long time. It was when I said good morning to you earlier, I suddenly realised I had never told you my name which gave me the idea of writing that discussion.

That's quite funny but at least you know it now. It was very common when I was young but you don't hear it much now. Anna is still quite a popular name here though

My name is displayed here, actually it's my first and middle name. I used to not display it, but most people atleast knew my first name. I have a great aunt named Linda, and actually my mom was named after her and so was I.

I always wanted to be called Amber when I was younger.
Linda was a very popular name back when I was young. In fact my mum told me that when I was born there was a lady who had a little girl at the same time . She asked mum what she was going to call me and when she said Linda Suzanne the lady decided to call her baby that too.

@ScribbledAdNauseum My daughter is called Nicola although she prefers Nicky. When she was little she couldn't say Nicky so used to call herself Ninny. Her brother still calls her that!

@sprite1950 Ah, that's funny and cute!
My best friend whom I've known for 20 years, her mom was going to name her Amber. My mom wanted to name me Nicole, which is my friend's name. We laugh about that every once in awhile.

My name is obvious, waheehee. Seriously, I have been using Alexandoy for my profile name in almost all sites. But when the site requires 2 names then I use my real name. Maybe I want my name to be popular, waheehee, joke.

That's so funny that you wrote a discussion about it, because I was just thinking yesterday that I didn't even know your name, even though we talk back and forth for hours on end sometimes! Well, it's finally nice to meet you Linda! Obviously, you already know my name is Jeff.
Or is it?
Haha, just kidding. It really is Jeff.

I'm not sure why I didn't put my real name up here as I don't worry too much about the privacy side. My name is Linda Mansfield .. I might change it on my profile.

I don't know how to pronounce your real name so I've always called you Angie. English names don't have so many consonants together.

). My parents just chose names they liked for myself and my sister.

I share my name. I guess the way I look at it is that many people share it, even in its full form, and really, if someone is hell bent on finding me in the real world...it's not that hard. I generally refer to myself as Porwest here, but of course my name is Jim and it's right there on every post and every comment.

@porwest I have no idea why I didn't use my real name here. I might change it although people might not recognise me then. Some people seem to have a problem with privacy although it doesn't bother me.

In Russian my official name is Elena though everyone Russian speaking calls me Lena. But when I was moving to the US from Belarus the English translation of my name was given to me as Yelena, which I was told is a French translation. So now I am officially Yelena but on FB and other social networks I use Lena, as I do here and on other sites I am on. I even use Lena as my author name.
