It was hard but not anymore

In a previous post I stated that it is hard when people don't have time for you anymore etc. Then I realised something the people that were in my life regularly were there because I kept them there... I would text them first, I would ask them how they were first, I would wish them Happy Birthday first, I would be the first to ask if they needed anything after a depressive post... I realised that I felt like seeing them always had conditions to it... I also realised I didn't want to do that anymore... I even realised that it felt like my 'best friend' had these sort of conditions... In hindsight, it seems that he never wanted to catch up just to see me or because he missed me... I miss him so much but maybe it is better this way... The only contact I have had with people were the few people who wished me a Happy Birthday

I think there always comes a time in our lives when we realize that people who we thought were really good friends aren't really good friends at all. At that point, do we let them go, or do we continue a friendship that is very fragile or superficial to begin with? I don't think there's a right or wrong answer, it's just something we have to work out on our own.

sometimes its better not to have friends at all. just have a bunch of acquaintances, those are what become friends over time.

That statement is contradictory to me. Better to not have friends at all but have acquaintances that become friends but again it's better not to have friends.

@Fa_Maverick - it is contradictory. just like human interaction.

Yes people like you are describing are very self centered and hurtful. I know one that is doing this right now. Sorry you had to deal with that.

I'll get through it. Right now I have David Bowies Changes blasting through speakers to motivate me to not go back to it
