Since both kids are still running fevers over 100.1 which school guidelines state any child with a temp over 100.1 can not attend school till they have 12hours or more fever free. So for both they get to sleep in and stay home and rest till there fevers finally break. Good news is they have been managing well and I think our girl had the hardest today here temp was the highest it’s been and she slept more of the day. The middle boy his was medium fever didn’t need fever reducer and had been more active act a bit more then the day before which is a good and he is on the tail end of the flu thankfully. So we will see if he can return to school after tomorrow. They are both hating being stuck inside and at home all of the time right now. We did explain to them that the flu is easily spread and can be passed between 5-7 days from the first symptom start.

One should be done before the other is. 5-7 days for the flu to pass. One is already 3-4 days the other is on day 2. So crossing fingers. They are already doing better then most other kids there ages are with the flu.

It's good not to send kids to school if they are unwell

We can’t go then since they have the flu and also have temps over 100.1 anything else then that the school doesn’t see the kids as being sick and can attend.

@amitkokiladitya because it’s not a ever unless it’s moves past 100.1 you could easily say 100 is from walking or body adjusting to temps n our outside. Fever is anything above 100.1 where the body is fighting off something.

Sorry to hear that. It is worrisome news for a mom even her one child is sick with running fever, not to say how she will feel when both children are sick at the same time. Good news is that they are recovering. Take care.

It doesn’t worry my. Sickness is part of growing up even when your grown up you get sick and a fever is natural for the body. It tells you it’s fighting something off. I have three kids all three with fevers just that two go to school the other is home with me all the time till next falls. Also there dad works night shift and works in the medical field so if and when they are really sick he can call out like he did last night. I’m very sick to one or several being sick at the same time. As long as their not throwing up we are okay

And the teachers are thanking you! Can’t count the number of times when I was teaching that parents made their sick kids go to school.

It’s best to keep them home. A lot of parents still send them sick.

They have no choice it’s that I want to send them to school. I know the guidelines and I’m a stay at home parent so I don’t have to arrange anything there car. Yes a lot of parents send sick kids becAuse they have no choice. Child care is expensive even for just a sick day. Not everyone has the ability to afforded it so I don’t blame them. People need to work to pay the bills and put food on the table.

@ShyBear88 I get that , I stayed home from work when my kid was sick. If not the school would call you to come pick up your sick child. One sick kid, could make others ill., people here don’t always follow the rules of school

@CookieMonster46 same I try not to send them to school sick. A little runny nose and slight cough isn’t a sign of being sick so keeping them home for that isn’t need. If there is fever, other symptoms and throwing up they stay home. Also a lot of virus have no symptoms at the start and by then you probably have spread it by the time you do notice. They are still able to spread for the next 5-7 days. There also those people that don’t get sick but can still spread because virus and stuff can live on surfaces for x amount of time which is where a lot of people get sick. That’s why we try to tell them now when they are super young to wash hands often especially more so in the winter or when feeling sick

I'm surprised its only 12 hours. Everywhere that i know its 24 hours without it - without medicine - before you can go bck to daycare or school. I do hope they'll be sick free soon
