Smart to Think Before You Speak

My dear grandmother always taught me smart life lessons. Many stand out to this day as they did when she told me years ago.
One was to always think before you speak. Once you say the words, they can never be taken back. I have never forgotten that one.
I had a friend I went to school with and we have always kept in touch, call today. Not the one in an abusive relationship. But another one from far away.
I don't see her often but we email and text to catch up. For her to call, I thought something was wrong. She said things were ok but she had heard over the years many things she has never asked me about. One being how I always thought she was using me. And that I never considered her a friend.
Many things that caught me off guard. It has been about five years since I have even seen her. For her to actually believe what she hears, give me a break. I always considered her a friend. Never talked about her. I don't even see the people she mentioned that are supposedly talking.
Drama drama drama is what I thought the whole time. I did ask her if she really believed it and she did. When she was done I said I need to go, and I hung up. Sometimes you just have to walk away.

Is it the first time she has said such a thing?

@CarolDM Well at least it's only once. Walk away and if she comes back kind, consider it a strange one off, or maybe not! lol.

I guess I would like to know who was telling her such things. Why can't people mind their own business?

It sad to lose a friend, and yet more important to protect yourself.

It took me many years to learn to watch what I say.
Sorry that friend thought those things.

I like that adage - better to think twice. But now it can apply to forums to think twice before posting.

What I think is that the people who where saying these things where maybe jealous of the friendship that you shared and wanted too cause an argument and stir up trouble to try and split you too up that is what I think.

That's a shame she believed what she heard. Give it some time, then maybe talk it out. As to why she believed it all and what not.
