I recently pointed out several signs of Spring that I had noticed in my yard, area, and State. Tonight I will add to the list. I have noticed a few more. Here we geaux: 1: New leaves coming in on the Red Tipped Photinia. This was very noticeable because this shrub is green, but new leaves come in as red and stand out. 2: New leaves sprouting on the Elderberry bushes in my yard. This bush just has bare branches and now has green leaves sprouting. 3. Pollen all over my car. This usually doesn't happen until later in March or the month of April. This is pollen from the oak trees all around our house. It really makes a mess on your car. At least the rain today washed it all off or most of it. Photo Credit:

That's so pretty. Are you down south? My Mexican Elder is an evergreen bush/tree/vine and usually it's kinda lame looking this time of year but it's already got the first signs of blossoms beginning. Odd. The elms have the bladk beady things that sprouts just before the seeds develop and even the Chinaberry trees have those fuzzy green tips on their branch ends. It's a little early for them to do that but hopefully there won't be anymore freezes overnight.

Ahhh, I've heard that it's kinda lush down that way @kareng as an Army brat I used to get to meet kids from all over the place.

Elderberry flowers fritters are delicious, but it is too early even for the leaves now.

The leaves are just starting to come out. Flowers later when it warms up. I've never even heard of using the flowers for fritters.

It really wasn't too bad, just that deep freeze in mid November put a bad taste in my mouth!

Exactly. Just so strange that the worst freeze came here in mid November. That usually doesn't happen until Jan. or Feb. With a short month here, hoping we can squeeze on by. With all the signs showing here, it just may happen.
