The Kitty Is More Graceful Than I

See how smooth and graceful that kitty in the photograph is walking down those steps? Well she did much better than I did today. I was feeding little Jessie on the back porch today and my ankle rolled and I lost my balance and ended up falling down the steps to the back porch.
Thankfully, I didn't break anything but have a minor sprained ankle, a scraped knee and bruised knee, bruised butt and bruised elbow. The bruise on my elbow is on the inside and runs into the other bruise I got earlier this week from the vampire nurse at the doctor's office. I forgot to post about that adventure. She was not the best lab tech I have had and actually far from it.
I'm sure I'll really feel all of the aches tomorrow morning when I wake up. Right now I am just a bit sore and achy.
Have you ever fallen down steps going up to your house? I really feel clumsy now.
Hubby is home and I am now signing off so we can watch something on TV. Goodnight all!

Oh, my! You definitely will be sore, and I hope you heal quickly.
I fell down an entire flight of steps, but never once let go of the laundry basket filled with dirty clothes.
I also fell going up the stairs with a laundry basket filled with clean clothes.
Both times I ached for days. That’s probably why my husband insists on carrying laundry baskets for me.
. Perhaps I should keel over with a dust cloth or toilet brush.

I'm glad there are only three steps leading to the porch!
Oh wow on falling down entire flight of stairs. I can only imagine the soreness from that! I'm glad you didn't have any broken bones.
Ha, on the new precautions, but he is concerned and doesn't want to find you on the floor one day with broken bones!! I hate cleaning bathrooms, that would tempt me to try that one...

@DianneN I was very lucky! The pulled hamstring hurts worse than the ankle!! I will mend! At least after next week my hubby will be retired and around the house more, so he can come to the rescue! It took me a few minutes to get up and of course, Jesse just kept on eating!! Bad doggie!

@kareng You were darn lucky you didn’t break anything, but I heard a sprained ankle hurts badly.
I was pretty darn sore and black and blue after bouncing down those stairs. It hurt worse when I fell going up the stairs. My bare knee hit a piece of metal on the bone. I cried and cried from the pain of it all.
Yes, let’s plan on falling on the floor, gently of course, and soon we will be ladies of leisure!

I dont remember falling down steps. But I took a good fall when I stepped on a piece of cardboard in the garage a few years ago. At first I thought I had broke my ankle. It was just a bad sprain luckily. But I didnt spill my clean clothes that I was taking to the dryer.

When my daughter was about 6 months old, I was carrying her down a spiral staircase, when I tripped and fell al the way down the entire length of the stairs. Because I was holding a baby, and couldn't put my hands and arms out to break my fall, I did the only thing I could do....tuck and roll. Fortunately, my daughter came out of the ordeal unscathed. Unfortunately, I broke my foot! But I can be super thankful it was only my foot and not my neck!
I hope the aches and pains aren't too bad, or don't get worse for you! Maybe I should start calling you Grace from now on! haha

I'm glad you came out of that one with only a broken foot. That could have been multiple breaks! And a blessing that your daughter was not hurt!
Somehow I have the feeling that I have earned that new nickname..LOL.
I actually got up this morning without much pain. It seems that I also pulled my hamstring and that is something that I hate because of the time to heal. I did this about six months ago and it took forever to heal totally.

@moffittjc I never would have imagined that those kind of injuries would be so bad. It's just enough pain to annoy you. I wonder if a muscle cream or arthritis cream would help. May try that! I now have new respect for athletes who get these injuries!!

@kareng I strained a calf muscle in the final paintball tournament of the year last November, and it took me all the way up to the end of January for that sucker to finally heal all the way. It's hard when you still have to use your legs everyday! haha

The one thing that I didn't mention in post was what I was hoping would go away...a pulled hamstring. It's not real bad but enough that I feel it every time I stand up or sit down. Otherwise, I was better than I thought I would be with soreness and stiffness. I did take a muscle relaxer when I went to bed.

@LindaOHio I was then. I was just standing on the left side of pet food bowl to the edge of the porch and steps. I have weak ankles and knees and you never know when one will give. I will make a habit of not feeding on that side from now on though. She was just going to town and digging in so I moved over. Live and learn!

Ever heard, "She walked like a gazelle" I think cats are within the same family. They move so gracefully. Stretching and yoga might help with flexibilty as well as graceful dancing.

Last year I fell once a month for five months all at home. Not down steps but still very painful. I fell off a curb while walking students to the bus, trying to keep them under control. That hurt a long time.

Sorry to hear about your fall. It must be very painful. Lucky that no fractures. It happens sometimes you miss a step and then you can't control yourself. I don't remember to have fallen that bad on the steps but minor slippings have happened so many times.

I'm sure you're feeling every bruise and muscle this morning.
Sometimes those vampires are merciless. I had one too the last time I went to the hospital. I'm glad it's only sprained and not broken.
I rolled my ankle back in 2010 and broke it. Yes, I've done the slide down the steps thing. It was icy.

I fall often. I don't really know if the knee replacement will help.
