There has been an on going issue regarding the franchise renewal of our local network ABS-CBN. It's a news and also an entertaining with documentary it's specialty. I'm surprised that congress and senate themselves had to vote to have it's franchise renewed. Why can't DTI or related department to deal with this issue privately. Well, some people wanted it shut down because of it's bias and incomplete reporting of the news and issues. Not to mention the mind conditioning of it's viewers, specially when it comes to political issues and elections. But never I wanted in my life to have such network to shut down, I just want them to fair. Which I think will never happen. I think it will get worst if it happens. All of these are sensationalized, they're franchise will be renewed anyways.
Congress has the exclusive power to grant or cancel any franchise, Deputy House Speaker Johnny Pimentel said. The Office of the Solicitor General is "already...

This is clearly the government's way of weaponizing the resources available to them and this is a grave abuse of power. This is clearly an act to silence the critics of this government.

Hello @allen0187 I don't think it's ever going to happen, it's just another blatant sensationalism of the news.

I don't like ABS-CBN ever since but I hope they'll be given a chance to correct their mistakes or violations if ever there's any. I don't know if DTI has a say or something to do with regard to the issue. Corporation is registered with SEC and not with them.

Hello @ZedSmart I totally forgot about the SEC. Yes, they're the one who's supposed to deal with this privately, not the law makers.

It's a simple thing. The government wants to control it. That's my observation. May be I'm right or not?

Hello @Nakitakona It's probably sensationalized, but it's probably revenge for all those bias news they've ever made.

@Letranknight2015 That's one of the many reasons against that network. That's only in the Philippines.

I have heard that they owed the government taxes. They should pay it. It is the congress who will decide about the renewal of the franchise. I have read a lot of sources. This is just my opinion. So. Cardo Dalisay will die?
